the design process:
HOW IT WORKS
FROM START TO FINISH:
DESIGN CONSULTATION
We'll connect initially in person, on the phone or via video chat to review your project, discuss options, and identify key objectives for your project.
You'll leave this meeting with a comprehensive set of design recommendations, and a conceptual vision for your project.
PROJECT BID
Based on our design consultation, I'll put together an estimate and timeline for your design project.
It's important that we both know what to expect, and what's expected of us.
INITIAL SKETCHES
You'll receive fully custom sketches that will help us solidify our vision and the direction of your project.
Typically this phase of the project focuses on concept, overall subject matter, style, shape, etc.
SECOND DRAFT
Your second draft is intended to address edits, change requests, and refine the details of your project.
Typically this phase of the project addresses things like color palette, typeface, and other key details.
FINAL FILES
After approving a final proof, you'll receive a full package of print- and web-ready files, including vector artwork, image files, and transparent background files.
You'll also receive a multi-page branding guidelines document to help ensure that your logo is implemented consistently across platforms and over time.
This is our standard design sequence, and typically takes around 4 weeks start to finish.
As a small and flexible design studio, we have the ability to adjust this timeline or sequence of steps to most effectively meet the needs of each client.
Have a limited budget? We can simplify the process and list of deliverables to get you only what you need. Have a bigger, more complex project? We can bring in additional resources and/or block out more time for your project.

What DO I need to bring to the INITIAL CONSULTATION?
After securing a design consultation in our calendar, you’ll receive an email from us with a design questionnaire that will help you prepare for the meeting and get the most out of our time together!
WHAT IF I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WANT MY LOGO TO BE?
No problem! We can start with as much or as little guidance as you have. Whether you have a very specific vision, or no vision at all, we'll work together to identify a design concept together.
MY BUSINESS IS BRAND NEW AND OUR BUDGET IS SMALL.
We're a small business too and we get it! We have the flexibility to customize our services to the particular needs of each client. We can downsize the scope of the project, or space your design fee out over multiple payments as needed to meet your budget.
WHAT DOES THE INITIAL DESIGN CONSULTATION INCLUDE?
The design consultation is an incredibly valuable and informative process. We’ll identify a clear set of objectives and a conceptual vision for your logo, which you can then use to create a DIY design, or as a roadmap for the designer of your choice.
WILL I OWN THE RIGHTS TO MY LOGO ARTWORK? CAN I PRINT OR REPRODUCE IT?
Yes! The final artwork is yours to use as you see fit. As designer, I also retain rights to all process & final artwork to use for portfolio and marketing purposes, and would always ask permission before repurposing artwork for other uses.
I ALREADY HAVE A LOGO. CAN YOU REDESIGN IT FOR ME?
Of course! Businesses grow and evolve, and sometimes your logo needs a refresh to stay current. We'll follow the same process as designing a logo from scratch, only using your current logo as a starting point.
